Types of Pressure Transducers

There are three types of pressure transducers used to measure pressure:

  • Differential Pressure Transducer
  • Absolute Pressure Transducer
  • Gauge Pressure Transducer

Differential Pressure Transducer:  It measures the difference in pressure between two values or two pressure points. It comes with two ports to which the pipes are connected to measure the difference in pressure and calculate. It is normally used to measure the pressure in any form of gas and liquids in ducts or pipes.

Absolute Pressure Transducer:  It measures the absolute pressure in a perfectly sealed vacuum environment. It requires constant reference and most of the industrial process and aviation inspection use this to measure air pressure.

Gauge Pressure Transducer:  Gauge Pressure Transducer is commonly known as Vacuum Pressure Transducer. It measures differential pressure always relative to the local pressure. The environment conditions affect the gauge directly and the output has errors. When the gauge pressure is higher than the ambient pressure, it is known as positive pressure. If the pressure is less than the atmospheric pressure, it is referred as negative gauge pressure.
